Green turtle (Penyu Agar)

---> Green turtle is commonly known as “Penyu Hijau” or “Penyu Agar”. This species is very well known as green turtle because of its body fat color content which is in green color. The scientific name of this species is Chelonia mydas. This species can be recognize as it has dark brown color on its body and only has a nail in the front of swimming foot. The body size is about 1.2 meters and has weight that can reach about 270kg. The main food of this species is seaweeds. The spawning season is between April-September and can lay egg about 100-140 eggs in each nesting. The egg is round with soft leathery shell and has diameter of 5.0 cm. 
Olive Ridley turtle (Penyu Lipas)

---> Olive Ridley turtle is known as “Penyu Lipas” by local people. The scientific name of this species is Lepidochelys olivacea. This species is the smallest turtle among all species of sea turtles in the world. The average body size is between 15-65 cm long with a weight up to 50 kg. Has dark body color or dark green olives. Its main food is crab, shrimp and small shellfish. The spawning season between March-June and can lay egg about 100 eggs for each time. The egg is round with soft leathery shell and has a diameter of 4.0 cm. 

 

Leatherback turtle (Penyu Belimbing)

---> Leatherback turtle is known as “Penyu Belimbing” because his body was covered in shells which have 7 strips that resemble starfruit. This species is the largest one among others turtle in the world. Its body size can reach up about 2 meters and the weight is more than 500kg. The scientific name of this species is Dermochelys coriacea. It has black body color and white speckled. The upper part of the mouth is like the curve as it easy to catch jellyfish which is the main food and other delicate marine life. The spawning season is between May-August and it can produces between 60 to 120 eggs at each spawning. The eggs is sperical with soft skin and has diameter about between 5-6.5 cm.

Hawksbill turtle (Penyu Karah)

---> Hawksbill turtle is commonly known as “Penyu Karah” or also called as “Penyu Sisik” by local people. This species is very well known as it has overlapping skin texture that appeared as flaky and the color is dark brown or yellow-brown. The scientific name of this species is Eretmochelys imbricate. It has medium body size and rarely exceeds 1 meter. Its weight can reach about 75kg and has unique mouth shape that resembling an eagle's beak. The main food is soft coral and sponges which are abundant in coral reef areas. The spawning season is between March-June with an average of 130 eggs. The egg is round with soft leathery shell with a diameter of 5.0 cm.
