Sea Turtles eggs and hatchlings in Geliga and Chagar Hutang (2010-2013)

Green turtles are known to nest extensively on sandy selected beach for example in Redang Island and Geliga. In early 2009, Geliga, Kemaman had to use Styrofoam box as an alternative due to insufficient fund to manage the hatchery. Meanwhile in Chagar Hutang Sanctuary, they are practicing in-situ programme since 1993.
According to Bernama (2011), the eggs obtained from Geliga, Kemaman and Chagar Hutang is 40 000 during that year as well as the price for each of Green turtle and Hawksbill turtle egg is RM2.
